10 Extremely Easy Ways to be a Highly Productive Person at Home
Do you think you have to do complicated things to be highly productive at home? Nope. You only need to do some of these few simple and easy steps to be super extremely productive. You can start these tips even from now. These ways will help you to be very productive, even when you can't go anywhere and have to stay at home. Worry no more, only by staying at home can make your days become more productive.
1. Sleep Early.
Excuse me, what? Yes. You read it right. A lot of people will mostly say, you will have a good and productive day if you wake up early. But can you wake up early in a good mood if you didn't sleep at the right time? That's why I said, sleep early at the night before. You know what is the best time for your body to sleep in order to wake up early. Everyone is different and you should know yourself to decide the perfect 'early' sleeping time for you at night. For me, it would be around 11. But I know some people say early sleeping time is around 10 PM or even 9 PM. You know your body the best.
2. Start your day in the morning.
If you do have time to spend, you can find some research that supports the morning person. Many researcher say that people who make a habit to wake up in the morning tend to have bright energy and a more positive outcome. I kind of agree with that because starting your day in the morning also means you have more time to get your job done faster.
3. Exercise.
Do you know that getting your body to keep moving for at least 10 minutes can make you release glutamate and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)? For easier understanding, GABA is a neurotransmitter with many benefits for depression, aging, neuropsychiatric disorders, and other mental health conditions. In short, exercising helps you to feel good for the rest of the day. Who doesn't want to feel good?
You don't have to think about complicated things to exercise like going to the gym and doing other heavy stuff. There are many simple workout styles that you can do at home, even without equipment or in a small room. Ever heard of aerobic, yoga, body combat, or zumba? Try those and thank me later.
4. Eat real food.
Try your best to not eat artificial foods. Eat vegetables or fruits for your breakfast. Not only you will feel good, but your body will also thank you. Don't eat too many sugary foods. Those foods might be good in your mouth. But in the long term, it will have a bad effect on your body, health, or mood in general. You will feel drained or even depressed, which you know, these two things don't go well with productivity, right?
5. Set your goals for the day.
Having a journal would help you. You write your goal for one day and every time you're doing something, make sure that it includes your daily goal. Try to stick with your plan and don't change it. Make plans well too on how long do you want to do every of your task. When you finish one thing, make a note that you've finished it and move on to other things that you have to do. With this, you have a structured day that helps you to focus and stay on track.
6. Clean.
Who can have a good mood if you are surrounded by a messy and dirty environment? Nobody. That's why make sure you love your environment. If your office space is cluttered, do spare time to clean it before you start your actual work. You have to make your surrounding to be the most comfortable space to work. If you work in your bedroom because you don't have an office room, make sure you've tidied up your bed. Don't even try to work in a messy room because it only decreases your mood and productivity. Trust me.
7. Set the room right.
Other than having a clean space, you also have to set the room right. What I mean by this is, if there's something you must do to make you feel more comfortable, you should do it. For example, do you need calm music when working? If you do, before you start your work, spend some time to find the perfect music playlist for you. After that, you can start working. Or another example, do you feel your room is not bright enough? Then you can buy more lamps to brighten up the room. Make yourself be comfortable before working so you can work in your best condition.
8. Rest.
I know. This sounds funny, right? How can you be productive if you rest? Well, this is the question you should ask yourself, "How can you even be productive if you're tired?" Truthfully, you must not force yourself. Understand? Let's say, after several hours of looking at the computer screen, you should rest your eyes. Try looking at nature every several hours. Or if there's no nature what so ever, just close your eyes for a while. Taking a nap is also not a bad thing.
9. Never Multitask.
Let's back on track, shall we? Never allow yourself to multitask. I know you might feel multi-tasking will let yourself finish more works at one time. But do you realize that multitasking makes your working pace becomes slower which in the end makes you take more time to finish both? Multitasking is not efficient at all. Your brain can only focus at its best with one task at one time. So do your brain a favor and just do one thing after another. Don't try to force your brain to focus on several things at once.
10. Finish on time.
Just because you're trying to be productive and work at home, you feel the need to go all the way pulling all-nighter to finish all the projects that you have planned. Nope. That won't work. Instead, it will only make yourself tired, sleep late, wake up late the next day, become cranky, and regret things. When you make a schedule earlier, make sure that you have realistic daily goals that you can finish on that one day. When the sun sets and you have to warp up your work then move on to other things, do it. Don't force yourself into doing your work more than you should. This mindset will work better for the long term and makes you be productive every day with a positive mind and a good mood.
So those are some highly helpful tips and steps to make you have a better productive day at home. Just because you're at home and not going anywhere, you can't be productive. You can be whatever you want to be if your mind lets you believe and actually do it. These 10 steps might need several days to practice. It is okay to make mistakes as long as you keep trying to learn and try to be the best productive version of yourself. Good luck!
